Femme Fatale

The femme fatale continues to intrigue as a classic archetype.  Using her alluring beauty, mysterious charm and dangerous wit to ensnare her lovers,  Marlene Dietrich set the bar on what it takes to be a femme fatale in films like Morocco and Shanghai Express.

Also another femme fatale we love is Anna May Wong, the first Asian American movie star.  Her exotic grace and languid sexuality made her an international force to reckon with.  We first laid eyes on her in the movie Morocco with Marlene where her ability to entrance was just as hypnotic and hard to turn away from.

Inspired by this dark take on glamour, darling three becomes a femme fatale as the heroine in her own tale.  Don't be afraid to do the same.  xo.

Wilderness Fun with the Setting Sun

Gap sweater, Delia's jeans, American Eagle mittens,  J.Crew boots and belt worn as a headband

To be young and have some fun.  Darling four takes the standard white sweater and blue jeans to another level with her furry rain boots, jeweled headband and alpine mittens.  But even with all the right accessories, nothing completes this look better than a bright personality like Darling four's.  Always one to make us smile, we hope Darling four can inspire you to let loose and have some fun.  xo.

Green Days

Banana Republic military jacket, H&M dress, Tory Burch tortoise shell glasses, Jack Purcell sneakers, and J. Crew necklace

Darling five commands our attention with her take on military-chic.  She wears a military parka and romantic pink dress while keeping it smart with her quintessential quirky glasses.   And that's the best thing about the military look this Fall, you can make it your own by dressing it up or down (check out darling three's version of the military look here).   We love these pictures shot by Mario Testino from Vogue March 2010.

And another take from Russian Vogue July 2010 with Palvin Barbara.

Making our pastoral fantasy true, darling five keeps it real by pairing her version of the military look with her favorite sneakers.  Doesn't she make it look easy?  xo.
