Trick or Treat: Monster Marshmallow Pops

Never ones to follow the crowd, the darlingsix gang thought about alternatives to store bought Halloween candy for trick-or-treaters.  Darling four found this recipe for Monster Marshmallow Pops from the Phyllis Hoffman Celebrate Halloween magazine.  Using marshmallows, lollipop sticks, icing, sprinkles, candy corn, and sanding sugar, darling four and darling five created these fun alternatives to store bought candy.

Quick tip: Don't aim for perfection, the uglier and messier they are, the better your monster marshmallow pops will look.

Don't have time to make fancy candy?
Fear not, here are some other fun alternatives:

Check out these vampire and skull stickers.
We also love these fake mustaches.
Never too old to have fun with temporary tattoos.
And finally, some Halloween bubbles.

Happy Halloween.

One, Two, Three ... Military!

Vintage Military Top from the U.S. Army, Gap jeans, Forever21 boots, and J.Crew necklace (worn as a headband)

Military-inspired looks have never been more chic.  From olive-hues and skinny cargo pants to embellished sharp shouldered jackets by balmain, this is one trend that can be done in a multitude of fashionable ways.  Darling three wears a vintage military top and makes it tough-girl trendy with her patched-up jeans.  To complete the look, she opts for some signature shimmer with a statement necklace coyly placed on top of her head.
We bet those soldiers never saw this coming.  xo!

Socky Doll Friends

Funny how one gal's trash can become another gal's treasure.  Here is the result of
Darling five's scrappiness.  She made these adorable sock dolls from our leftover socks and we couldn't be happier with the result.  Hope these cuties brighten up your day.  xo.

French Apple Tarts

Apples are perfect for the fall.  Darling four got into the kitchen and made these delicious French Apple Tarts.  This recipe is from the Barefoot Contessa and can be found here.  The kitchen smelled heavenly while darling four baked these.

Pair them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or some whipped cream and your eyes will roll back from these light, delicious treats.  Happy baking!

True love will find you in the end

Talbot's sweater , Shorts and purse are vintage, Madewell tights, Mossimo Shoes, Heritage Hat

Shorts in the Fall have become the norm.  With the appropriate layers, shorts paired with fall staples look great on anyone.  Darling three wears a high waisted pair of the denim version and makes them appropriate for the cool Fall weather with her sheer black tights.  Keep the outfit simple, throw on a pair of leopard shoes and maybe you'll be lucky enough to fall in love with a robot like darling three.  xo.

Oxford Heels

Old fashioned never looked so good.  Oxford shoes are back but with a modern twist, the Oxford Heel.  They are the perfect way to transition from summer to fall and can be worn with practically anything (see them on darling five here and darling three here).  Crafted from fine Italian leather, J.Crew's Langord leather high-heel oxfords make vintage look sophisticated and new.  Urban Outfitters also offers them from Kimchi Blue in brown and black.  Finally, for you frugalistas, Forever21 offers a chic version for less.  Hope you find a pair perfect for you.  xo!

A Lady and her Hat

J. Crew top, Forever 21 polka dot skirt, Talbots hat, Enzo Angiolini platform heels

Sometimes an outfit can be inspired by a single piece of clothing and in this case it was a hat.  The weather was miraculously cool in Dallas and the sun had just begun to set.  Darling four kept it young and fresh.  We wish you could've seen the way her skirt fluttered in the light breeze.  Simply perfect.

Socky Bear

No matter how good we are about doing our laundry we always end up with a pile of single socks missing their other half.  This time around, it was too hard to throw away some of the prettier socks so Darling five decided to get crafty and make some sock dolls.  Using two pairs of socks, some buttons, thread, needle, and felt, she made this adorable teddy bear.  Isn't it the cutest?  Stay tuned to see the other sock dolls she crafted.

Mascarpone Chocolate Toffee Bars

Darling four loves to bake and today was no exception.  We were all craving something sweet and she went into the kitchen to bake these delicious chocolate bars.  You can find the recipe here.  Darling four used chocolate toffee candy bars instead of the semi sweet chocolate the recipe called for to ice these delectable sweets.  Just add a glass of milk and enjoy!

Rock and Rolla

J. Crew Denim shirt, Urban Outfitters Skirt and Jacket, J. Crew socks, and Forever 21 boots
Prim and proper is not the only way to wear the denim shirt.
Darling five rocks it for fall with edge and attitude.
We love how she stands out.
